A good start to our week….

Papaya’s appointment with Dr. Abdullah went very well. He declared her free of jaundice, but of course ordered a blood test to confirm. She is now off the phenobarbitol, aka the yukky tasting medication. We’ll test her blood again in one month and as long as her bili count is not above five, she can stay off the medication. I asked about how long he expects her to be on the tutti fruitti prilosec. He noted that most children grow out of this type of reflux between nine and twelve months of age, so around that time we will take her off and monitor her progress.

While there she weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds 3 ounces. The nurse had me put Papaya in her carseat and my diaper bag on the wheelchair scale - it turns out I am lugging around 27.7 pounds right now! No wonder I get tired of carrying her in that car seat, even though it was the lightest one on the market with good crash test ratings.

Adventure Dad is having his new picture taken today for his service record. He had to rearrange his ribbons to add Bushy-Pooh’s new Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Whoo hoo - everyone has one who is in the military right now. Sadly, he added a star (meaning a second awarding of) the National Defense Service Medal since he has now been Active Duty for TWO Gulf Wars. I say sadly because I wish we had not gone to war on bad intelligence and a son’s need for revenge without a long term plan….oh, but I ramble on.

So back to bed I go after a 3:30 a.m. shower (after a feeding when I had Adventure Dad to cover Papaya and lots of time to lounge in the warm water). Tomorrow I will continue my walking with Amy Zinkhon, I measured our route with my car and found out we had walked just under two and a half miles! The lifting is good for the muscles but this walking is what is going to shrink my tummy and rear end.
