A great weekend so far!

Friday started things off well! Even though Papaya had been a bit cranky the day before she was wonderful for my morning walk with Amy Zinkhon. I’ve managed to walk Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week thanks to weather - a good start. Plans changed late Friday and we ended up having the Gunthers, Beals and Kains over for enchiladas (the guys poker night fell through so I offered to get together with - gasp - guys and girls). It was great fun with the kids running around, the guys catching up and the ladies talking away. We finally kicked everyone out around 10 p.m. so we could get to sleep and wake up early on Saturday.

Papaya was a bit surprised to be out of bed, rather than Mom’s usual back to bed, after the 6 a.m. feeding. We dressed in our team t-shirts (the green ones from the Auction that say Pennsylvania Blue on the back) and headed over to the Submarine Anniversary Run. I walked the 5K with Greta Carswell while Adventure Dad ran the 10K and ended up winning his age group!

The night before Sam and Amanda Nakamine welcomed their new daughter so on the way home we swung that way to see them. Little Lydia Marie is beautiful and I am working on my jealousy over her labor (joking). Her water broke at home and she called Sam on the boat to come home, as is Navy tradition almost he was on duty when his wife went into labor. He got there in plenty of time and she did amazing! She looks great the day after - not even swollen from the saline. She’s going to recover so well!

So now we spend a relaxing evening with Adventure Dad before he goes off to stand duty tomorrow (Sunday) and then the next two Saturdays in a row - not that I’m bitter about that or anything.

A New Year! by Papaya Mom on January 3rd, 2005
We had a great New Year eating Cajun food at Mor Mor Bistro with friends:) The music was a bit loud and Adventure Dad felt like he was out of place without his AARP card but we had a nice time nonetheless.
