Ah, Adventure Dad’ last duty day of this refit. This DOES NOT mean that he will no longer work on weekends, only that he will be home at night at least. He was great last night, laying down for bed with Papaya at 7:30 p.m. so I could go out with the girls on my own. I got in bed late - 10:30 p.m. and started the cycle with miss growth spurt. She woke for her 1:30 a.m. feeding then every two hours thereafter. By the time she was up for the day I was wiped out and wished she would sleep in.
It was the first day I momentarily thought - I wish for an hour I could not be a mommy. Then I could just sleep. Then, she smiled and cooed at me and I remembered my prayers during the first few weeks of her life. I would pray to God to heal my body and promised that, no matter how tired I was, if I was in no pain I would be a great Mom to Papaya. Well, today was time to pay up on that promise and overcome the lazy feelings I was having.
We got up, I had some yogurt and we played. I read her the new book, “Mommy Loves” which tells her all about animals that love their babies AND has counting. The first animal has one baby, the second two…Up to ten. It is so nice to have good multi-purpose colorful books with things for her to learn.
After a 30 minute nap *in her crib* we got ready for a walk. I know if I am going to kick the lazies I’ve got to do my exercise even on days where I don’t feel like it. Into the Baby Bijorn and off to walk the Forrest Rock hills! We did the whole route with side streets while I caught up with my Mom on the cell. She had just got the new CD of Papaya .MPEG I sent and was watching Papaya fart when I called. I wonder if Papaya will resent me for sharing all of this someday?
It was a great talk. My step-brother Christian is doing GREAT at his job (big motorcycle company in LA) where he fixed a glitch in a new bike, saved the company big $ and became head of his division. Did I mention he has not even been there a year?!?! My other step-brother Ty and his wife Emi are going to have dinner with my parents next weekend so I’ll get an update on them soon. My brother Pono is working on moving from a place in Wailua back to a house in Haleiwa with his friend Sal (the ER Doctor) and another guy. The Haleiwa place has cheaper rent and is ON the beach! He just has to find someone to sublet the last 3 months of his current lease. All my brothers are such grown-ups now! All out of college with careers and everything. I’m such a proud sister!
So I think I am now doing better. The walk perked me up and wore Papaya out, all that holding our head up and looking forward is a lot of work! She is now sleeping *in the Baby Papasan* right next to the laptop on the dining table. If she were to stop her sweet soft snoring and open her eyes the first thing she’ll see is her Mommy’s face, full of love for her and over her lazy morning.
Now…What will I have for dinner? My guess is the rest of the leftover Chicken Curry (one of my favorites so I don’t mind finishing all the leftovers) with some pasta. And for dessert - the last of the 1/2 pint of Ice Cream from Cold Stone Creamery (Cheesecake Ice Cream with Raspberries and Almonds) that has taken me *OVER A WEEK* to eat. Not that I am proud of that or anything ![]()

Like Maggie Gyllenhaal who nurses her 8 month old daughter in public and KNOWS it's not a big deal - I mean AAP says a MINIMUM of a year so why is 8 months SO shocking?Like Joley Fisher who had a homebirth and did not hide it like some pariah - her body did what it's meant to do in a place where fewer interventions lowered her risk of complications.
