Home sweet home….but missing Paradise

It is inevitable, after five weeks in Paradise at my Parents’ house I
wanted to go home. I longed for our own bed, all of Papaya’s things
and a few of my own as well. It was sad as we ate our last breakfast
at Cinnamon’s with the family and drove off to the airport, sad as I
hugged my Mom goodbye, ditto on seeing the beautiful view out the
window of the plane.

I got home and was so happy to feel my own space again. I cleaned
like a mad-woman (with the help of my fellow mad-woman Donna) and got
ready for 3rd of July in Poulsbo. I love living in a town that is a
bit irreverent, having our fireworks on the 3rd is part of it for
me. Papaya and I hosted a Barbecue with friends from as far as New
York City, Seattle and all over Kitsap County in attendance. Adventure Dad’
sea pup Mel Naidas, now the NAV on the Michigan, worked the grill
while everyone pitched in with potluck supplies. I got to meet the
husband of my high school friend Meredith, and spend time with her
for the first time in five years! After dinner we drove over to
Patty Beal’s place, parked, and walked into town for the show. Papaya
nursed through the fireworks and did not seem a bit bothered by the
noise!

So now, I’m unpacking. I’ve got my suitcases empty and the clothing
put away. All that is left are the five huge boxes we mailed home to
ourselves. I’m going through hand-me-down clothes for Papaya (thanks
again Cindy!), baby gear and the like. Luckily the BIG neighborhood
garage sale is the 16th of this month, so I can get rid of a few
things to make room for my new stuff!

I’m awaiting Adventure Dad’ return from sea, the garage sale, Patrick’s 3rd
birthday, our trip to NY this summer and the chance to clean my
bathrooms…ah, the life of a stay-at-home Mom! I’m also editing a
DVD for my Dad’s family at Lake George and working on a catalog of
Grandma Wyatt’s things….who says SAHMoms are not busy? Ha! You
should see the laundry I’ve done already!

I'm having a fat day.

I made "my" Bolognese sauce tonight by Papaya Mom on August 17th, 2005
and it was a hit! Even Jake, who likes jarred Ragu sauce, liked it better! No one was able to guess the "secret" ingredient.
