I went to the pier. I usually don’t go, but the weather was
beautiful and Papaya missed her Daddy!
On the bus we went, Papaya in the Bijorn and me just wondering what I
was thinking. I hate waiting, and that seems to be what the pier is
all about. Yet we went, we were on the last bus and as we drove down
the Chief of the Boat of the other crew got the call…the boat had
already arrived! Yet, when the bus got to the pier, the “brow” was
not on yet. Perfect timing, now we just needed Adventure Dad to know we
were there! He came topside to work on the brow, looked across, and
there we were!
Across the brow he came, hugged his little girl and gave me a big
hug! It was a bright and sunny day on the pier, we were all happy
and just awaiting the time to go home! After going back on the boat
for a bit, we were ready. There were of course, no busses. We ended
up walking up the pier with Mike and Darcy, being the CO he has a car
at the pier, and got a ride to our car.
Before we walked away, there was drama. We have a wife who has a
latex allergy, she touched a balloon by accident that the clown who
was there to keep the kids from jumping off the pier. She took her
epi-shot but was still in SERIOUS distress; the boat’s doc came and
gave her oxygen and an ambulance came and took her away. She was
throwing up as her throat was closing, the ambulance got there just
in time!!!!! She is an acquaintance, so I’ll send her a card hoping
that she gets well soon. That is no fun as a homecoming!
We came home, the princess slept in the carseat and we got all the
way to Outback Steakhouse before she woke up. We had a great dinner
although Papaya only wanted me to hold her. It was a bit sad, but it
was nice for Adventure Dad to get to look across and see her.
As I write, she is laying on my lap “talking.” Dad comments “she
talks a lot now, doesn’t she?” I swear she said Mama the other day,
and some of her noises sound like “dada.” She had a long day
yesterday; started with four shots and ended with her Dad coming
home. I wonder how long until things feel “normal” for her again?
