What a week!

Papaya began with fevers, in the middle of the night.

My parents came to visit, not a bad thing, but it meant that between Adventure Dad, my Mom and I we had three Chiefs and only one Indian. I think my Dad was Switzerland, stay WAY out of it all.

Then, we took Papaya to the mall to see Aunt Beth, her sister Patty, Uncle Rick, Cousins Christopher and Louis at PF Changs for lunch. The food was great, so was she. Then we walked the mall and as we arrived at j.jill she threw up. Needless to say, we went home.

Here we are just before the puke:

We took Papaya to the Doctor and found she had a pre-Ear Infection. Yay! Here is a prescription, now don’t use it for 48 hours until this really develops. Ah, the joys of modern medicine.

Then, my Aunt came to visit us for the first time ever at this house…and tripped on our garage stairs and sprained her ankle. She hobbled with us to a wonderful family dinner out a Poulsbo Pasta, on the way back home Chris and Louis noted that one of my back break lights was out.

The next morning Janine, my aunt, can’t walk so we all load up in the Liberty to drive she and my Mom to the airport. No gym for me, but that’s alright, I like being lazy sometimes. The car makes a funny noise, it gets bumpier and bumpier. I pull off of I5 and to a McDonalds where I realize that the right front tire is missing 2 of 5 lug nuts. We call a cab to take my Mom to the airport and USAA Roadside Assistance to tow the car to the nearest Jeep Dealership.

My Mom and Janine get into the cab, make it to SEATAC just moments away, and……..miss the flight by ten minutes. Luckily they are scheduled for another flight at 2 p.m., only a few hours away.

Bruce and I load the carseat, with Papaya in it, into a cab which takes us to the dealership. Did I mention it gets lost on the way?

We get to the shop and the mechanic breaks the news to Adventure Dad who has left work to come all the way to Auburn to pick us up. All four tires were not tightened back on correctly when we had our 90,000 mile maintenance done just a few thousand miles ago. Our tire was rocking and shearing off the lug nuts, any one of the tires could have come off while we were on the highway or anywhere else for that matter. Even better, the parts to fix it are in Portland, OR and will take a day to get there. Oh, and if that were not enough, the transmission fluid is dark and old and needs to be changed out which I *think* should have been done at the OTHER Jeep dealership closer to home a few thousand miles ago.

Patty calls, the plane they are on made it to the runway then turned around to switch planes because the elevators were sluggish. She finally gets to Chicago where they don’t have the requested wheelchair for Janine who tries to hobble across the airport to make the connection. They miss it and are stuck in a airport hotel overnight, on to Branson, MO at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

We ride home in the Jeep Wrangler, await news from the dealership. Papaya begins her Penicilin and hopefully feels better soon….
