Missoula to Billings, MT
After a great evening eating Outback Take Out in our hotel room we all drifted off to sleep. We awoke around 8 a.m. (which would be 7 a.m. in our body clock) and got showered and ready for the day. We had breakfast at our first ever Cracker Barrel which I must say was great. Any restaurant that serves tea sweet or unsweet is rockin’ in my book, I like my tea southern and sweet. Papaya enjoyed sausage and hash brown casserole while we had pancakes. A toy for our princess (a plastic coin purse that was sooooo interesting for almost an hour) and we were on the road!
It’s beautiful country, Montana. Aside from the billboards advertising casinos with exotic dancing (we passed on that one, too early in the morning). Papaya fell asleep and we passed right on through Butte (home of our former evil landlord D____ S___) and on to Bozeman. And what did Super Mom have planned? The Children’s Museum of Bozeman where Papaya got to play in the music area, stack blocks, climb and ride a slide and have all sorts of no-off-limits fun with her parents (read: Dad plays and Mom takes 1000 pictures). Lunch at the Mackenzie River Pizza Company was great and we even added a pint glass to Adventure Dad’ collection, this made up for missing out on the Big Sky Brewery (makers of Moose Drool Ale) to make better time on the road.
One more nap got us as far as Billings, our stop for the night. We had considered Sheridan, WY but realized we did not want to push as far today, 360 miles is much more reasonable with a child than 480. As I type Dad and Papaya are playing in a tent made between the two queen beds in our hotel room, she carries my purse like a napsack with pride and giggles when Dad is down there playing with her. I’m off to join them, if my aching back will allow.
