What being a Mother means to me.

Okay, all that cute stuff you get in eMail forewards is true.
Yes, I feel mushy for her and my life will be forever changed.

But what else?

I feel a connection to other Moms; my own, my ancestors,
I wonder how they felt when their child was this age, etc.

I give unsolicited advice to other Moms all the time,
yes, with my whole 15 months of experience.

I get to watch my husband fall in love with another girl,
and enjoy it rather than plan his untimely demise.

There are moments when all I want to do is stay in bed all day playing with her,
but there are others where leaving this house is imperative to both of our survival.

I love my body more for all it’s done and is doing for her,
but my tummy (oh who am I kidding - ALL OF ME) will never be the same.

I’ve found my gentle side,
I use my planning side to make her life as fulfillng as can be,
and I still take time for me, much more than I did in the first year.

I’ll keep thinking on this one.

This post is so nice. I find myself talking to froggy non-stop today. It will be so amazing when s/he is a real live person for me to talk to! Soon, soon, soon.

    the mushiness abounds…

and to Annika, as you know, talking to frogger now and in the first hours after birth helps he/she feel connected and safe, no matter what Tom Cruise says!
