I believe in planning a child’s birthday party so that free time is at a maximum, play is unincumbered, food is all kid-safe and healthy (okay, most of it) and there is lots of room per kid.
Needless to say, I went to a 2 year old’s party today that was not. Muddy yard, slippery mats, uneven toy distribution, food not really toddler friendly though not horrid.
So; rather than bitch, I’ll tell you ’bout Papaya’s party.
It will be in January at my gym, Lifetime Fitness where we will have a basket ball court to ourselves. Kids will run free with balls and other fun imagination toys. Food will be toddler friendly (pretzels, cut up fruit, raisins, olives, etc.) and at their level for snacking. There will be a kids’ guitarist (cause I love watching Papaya dance) for an hour of the party who comes with his own musical toys for the kids. There might be cake, probably cupcakes, then the kids will go home. We’ll take the presents home for opening so as not to have a huge teary chorus of “Mine!” from both the gift givers and recievers. It will be a joint party with her friend Makenzie who is turning two a day before Papaya.
So there.

I'm really way too good at regrets, in fact, I have to stop myself from obsessing on them.

Yep, once again I am all excited because I participate in this right of American passage that is voting for what I believe in.

Sounds like fun! I like the idea of a “kids’ guitarist.” Kids love music and dance at that age; should be a hit. And since your gym is already toddler-friendly, it’s a good choice of venue. Will Julie and new baby be there, do you think? Or will Julie’s mother bring Makenzie? Does anyone have a video camera you could “plant” in a spot, with a wide shot and just leave it running for the event? Looking forward to seeing you soon, Tutu.
Wow… that sounds amazing.
Can you throw me a party?
Please?
I would, but don’t know much about LA LA land.
But, if your out here, your welcome to come in late January to this one!
Sounds like fun, maybe me and grandpa could make it to DC in January. We couldn’t make her last birthday party. Give her a kiss for me.
