Americans are considered fat by the rest of the world, and it’s no wonder why, we are. We eat huge portions, get used to our size and move on….no small bites of highly tasty food, no, we like all you can eat.
I’m just freaked out by these commercials - I mean I know that pancakes are good (my husband makes a mean one with an old family recipe), but how much should one eat? They are listed as “tasty and wholesome” but really - when eating 4, 5 and even more, I don’t think either apply. Rubbery bread fried in butter, slathered in butter-flavored oil and in corn syrup with Brown #24983 Coloring? And the stats…a “full” stack is 5 pancakes; 550 calories, 15 grams of fat and 85 grams of Carbohydrates, 20 grams of Protein and NO FIBER, huh? That is 1/2 my daily allowance of Weight Watchers points people - before the corn syurp “maple” flavor and the “butter” made of oil.

Ooh, pancakes!
This reminds me of a story..

A friend of mine moved from Germany to Pennsylvania (US).
She is a normal girl. And she eats small portions. Like all girls in Germany do. (okay, not ALL, but about 90 - 95 %)
First week in US she tried a small ice cream at… ehr… some fast food restaurant and she got about 300-500 ml of icecream. She couldn’t eat it!
She wasn’t used to americans ’small sizes’ which would be ‘big’ or ‘monster’ in Germany.
That’s my two cents on this article. Hope you enjoyed this little story.
