today I married my love, my sweet rockin’ cooler than everyone else handsome beyond words Adventure Dad.
We tried to go out to brunch to celebrate and got stuck with a 1 hour wait for a table, his meal coming 20 minutes before mine and only so/so food. Hello? WHY does this happen to us? We are good tippers, I swear!
We talked about where we will be seven years from now. Our guess? He’ll be on his CO tour with the Navy and we’ll be looking for a post-CO job in the Navy where he can be a College Professor (CO of an ROTC Unit, Professor at NPS(his Alma Mater for his Masters in Engineering Acoustics), or even the Naval Academy even though those jobs usually go to Alumni of said institution. Anything that will transition well to civilian life as a College Professor teaching Physics or something equally cool (ask Adventure Dad, he’ll tell you equally cool means running a Brew Pub in the woods).
Me? I’ll have a 9 year old and a hot MILF bod. I’ll be enjoying some crafty pursuit while volunteering at Papaya’s school (IF I’m not homeschooling, depending on where we live). Other than that…..I don’t know. I’m not someone who has great long goals that I can think of, I don’t want to “be” anything other than myself when I “grow up,” which I suspect may have already occurred. I went to College because I liked College, not for some great job out there I longed to have. I’m a bit of a chameleon; when I live in Suburbia I wish for a minivan and a nice house, when I’m in the woods with Adventure Dad I want an awesome Log Cabin.
In all reality - we don’t know if life will take this path, it’s just our best guess. We could be in any sort of strange life path that right now we can’t even imagine. For example; seven years ago I had never made an apple pie from scratch, I thought we would never choose to be parents, I had not met my In Laws or even all of Adventure Dad’ brothers. Life was different, and is so much improved today by each experience of the journey that we’ve traveled together.

ghoMany, many congrats to you and Travis on seven years! I hope today was full of lots of snuggly kisses and happy memories.
Maya grows more beautiful every time I see her.
Your writing is yummy, as always.
Happy anniversary! I swear we could be two peas in a pod. I too just adapt to my surroundings. Much as I am a planner, I do like to just take things as they come. It leads to many more surprises!
