CERTIFIED

no, not lunatic my dear friends, but personal trainer. By late summer I will have completed the NASM certification process and can begin training clients. I don’t plan to work right away since Papaya is still young and deserving of my full time attention and cuddles, but at our next duty station in 2008 I’ll find a part time job training at a gym while she is at preschool.

This is going to be an awesome summer, I can tell already.

Miles to go before I sleep…

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there’s some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

-Robert Frost

If only I knew all the words by heart on my 1200 mile weekend - the highlight of which was seeing my wonderful inlaws and watching Papaya run towards them with joy, excitement, and hugs. The low point was probably getting lost in New Jersey, twice, because we missed turns. Thank God for communication skills (try not to spit out your drink while you laugh at me) or Adventure Dad could have ended up living near Newark Airport.

The first day was 11 hours LONG and we were TIRED but we did finally make it to Lake Placid where Adventure Dad went backcountry skiing on Saturday. He had fun and met us for lunch at Lake Placid Pub & Brewery before we drove to the In Laws. Papaya had a great time that night with all the attention of her many uncles, her auntie and her grandparents. Today we drove 8 1/2 hours to make it home and get settled before another great week.

She

talks like a woman sometimes - her sentences are growing by leaps and bounds. If I hug her too hard “Mommy, please no breaking me” if I ask her if she is a “Wild Thing” “yes Mommy, I am, grrrrrr.”

Last night while watching hockey with her father she spoke to the players; “You, listen to me now, sit down in time out! No hitting! Are you listening to me? Time Out.”

Today in the car “Mommy, I wear the pink shoes today? See? Pink shoes, with buckles!” Then “look, I see a bird, a big bird Mommy!” and “Bus! Daddy’s Bus” at EVERY Metro bus she sees, even if he is in the car with us.

And then there is the dancing as she sings “Sing A SONG, Sing A SONG” (from the Sing by the Carpenters). She stands on her stage (the coffee table) and dances in circles then stands with her hands up in the air, swings them down in a great U as she squats and then tippy toes at the far end as she reaches skyward again. Real modern dance I tell you.

Easter Morning!

We convinced Papaya this morning to go looking for plastic eggs - she looked at us like we are crazy. We are, but she’s a bit young to have that all figured out.

Once she found the first egg she realized the game. Then every egg was “I FOUND IT!!!” as if she’d discovered the new world. The eggs were filled with fluffy felt and she got a bit scared when she tore a few open as if they might be bugs. Then she found the golden eggs (3) with actual candy in them - sweet Mother of Jesus she was happy.

Whoa!

She ate a Chocolate Tractor from Croghan Candy Kitchen in Croghan, NY from her Grammy and Grampa. She loved that - put in a request for this as her daily first meal. Something tells me disappointment is in her future.
